Hello NOIRE family, I am T. Denise.  Come and go with me as we explore beautiful South Africa, a country rich with culture, history, and rare attractions!  This was a two-part trip.  Our first destination was Johannesburg, informally known as Jozi, Joburg, or "The City of Gold".  It is the largest city in South Africa and is one of the 100 largest urban areas in the world.

Johannesburg was absolutely beautiful.  It is filled with history, attractions, museums, galleries, shopping, and restaurants.  I traveled with friends, and we stayed in a beautiful six (6) bedroom Airbnb home in the heart of Johannesburg.  Other accommodations are available, but we chose a home because of the size of the party.

First, we visited the beautiful Pilanesberg Reserve. It was located a few hours from Johannesburg, with some of the most amazing scenery. This was a Big Five Reserve, which is the natural habitat for the African buffalo, elephant, lion, rhinoceros, and leopard.

Next, we visited Nelson Mandela’s home and took a tour of Soweto. We also visited Nelson Mandela’s church Regina Mundi Catholic Church.

There are amazing restaurants.  Trumps Grillhouse, and Butchery and Marble Restaurant in Nelson Mandela Square was delicious and highly recommended. There are also places and restaurants to get authentic and local delicacies.

Johannesburg offered many modes of transportation like Uber and taxis.  The prices were very reasonable. The currency used is South African Rand.

The second part of the trip was Cape Town South Africa. It was a short flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town. The price ranged from $100-$150 per ticket.

We stayed at the beautiful Protea Hotel in Cape Town at Sea Point. It is conveniently located in a central location, within minutes from the V&A Waterfront.

Of course, we had to tour the town.  We visited some of the most popular attractions in Cape Town.  Table Mountain has the most breathtaking views.  Boulders Beach offered peaceful views and tranquility and included a special attraction, the African Penguin, an endangered species.

Cape of Good Hope, Robbin Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, and Stellenbosch Winery are some of the most exciting attractions in Cape Town. We also visited the local flea market, Green Market Square, to purchase souvenirs.

Cape Town offers an abundance of delicious foods and a simply amazing night life.  My restaurants of choice were Burger and Lobster, Harbour House V&A Waterfront, and Cloud 9 Cape Town Rooftop restaurant and Bar. Nightlife in Cape Town is full of different genres of music such as hip hop, R&B, and Afro beatz.

We used the same modes of transportation, uber and taxis.  The African Rand is also used in Cape Town.   This was my first trip to one of the most amazing places in the world.
