NOIRE Salutes Our Fathers

Noire Salutes Fathers on this Father’s Day!!

We are taking time to salute the men who have given so much to their children and the children of others.  On this father’s day we encourage you to do the same.  The fathers in our communities have been there throughout our lives.  They have been our coaches, our teachers, our pastors, and our community leaders.

The fathers of our publishers have had such an awesome affect on our publishers’ lives and all the people they have come into contact with.  The love they show their wives and children were blueprints for their children and others in their communities.  The life lessons they taught, and the gentleness of their words have helped heal wounds and ease tough situations.  Their encouragement has helped their children and given life to so many dreams.

For our publishers, their fathers have been such an inspiration in their lives and those in their respective communities.  Genara’s father is Reverend Acie Freeman, Sr.  Rev. Freeman attended Grambling State University, where he pledged the Gamma Gamma chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.  Reverend Freeman was teacher in the Monroe, Louisiana School System for more than thirty (30) years.  He was a pastor, thespian, and leader in the community.  Rev. Freeman is the husband of Diane Landry Freeman and the father of six wonderful children. His favorite scripture was, Psalms 37:25, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”

Daniel’s father is Attorney Thomas Morris, Sr.  Atty. Morris attended Southern University, and University of Mississippi Law School.  He also served in the US Air Force.  Atty. Morris is also the pastor of Greater Hinds Street Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi.  Rev. Morris is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.  Rev. Morris is the husband of Dorothy Pegues Morris and the father of five wonderful children.  The most quoted thing Rev. Morris would say to Daniel is from the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling, ““If you can walk with the crowd and keep your virtue, or walk with Kings-nor lose the common touch; If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you; If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute with 60 seconds worth of distance run- Yours is the earth and everything that's in it, And-which is more-you'll be a man my son.”

If your father is anything like these great men, take time and thank God you had a man you called father.
