Sunday Inspiration: Know Your Assignment

Many of us label things that come up against us, as trials, tribulations, and storms. We put negative labels to these things, however we have to understand, there is an assignment.  Do you understand the assignment that has been given to you by Christ?

As people we tend to think, everything that is difficult and hard is a stumbling block in our lives. However, the Bible tells us specifically that God has plans for us.  The Bible tells us, when we, seek first the Kingdom of heaven, all other things will be added. According to Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” However, sometimes we choose to sit back when things get hard, not understanding that God has provided an assignment to us.

An example is the matriculation through school.  It requires us to do various assignments in order to get through, to the next level. Only by doing those assignments, can we graduate from elementary school, high school, college, or earning our graduate degrees. That is the only way to get to the goal that we are trying to reach. Remember when you matriculated through school, there was pressure, sleepless nights, pain, and anguish, but, in the end, there was victory! God is trying to give us that victory, but we first must understand the assignment and complete the assignment.

Many people don't understand the assignments so they can't get to the next level. You will hear people ask questions like why am I not married? Why am I not making the type of money that I want to make? Why am I not happy? Some of these questions have simple answers like are you or have you completed the assignment. A woman or a man that seeks to be married must go through the first assignment. The first assignment being, loving God and secondly loving yourself. A woman has to learn how to be God's woman before she could be a wife for her husband.  A man has to learn to be God's man, before he can learn to be a husband to his wife. Do you understand the assignment?

Now some of us open the assignment but we refused to read the directions and we dive straight in, without understanding exactly what we were supposed to be doing, in the first place. You cannot understand the assignment unless you read the instructions. Then there are others that are diligent in reading the directions to the assignment but refuse to follow the directions. They know specifically what they are supposed to do but decide they're going to do it their way.

So, remember everything that comes to us that causes us to be uncomfortable, causes us to step out of what we know, the way we want things to be, and the way we want to understand things, is not always a trial or tribulation. It’s not a time to wonder, “Why is the devil coming against me.” Sometimes it's just the assignment and God wanting to get us to another level.  We can never move to another level, until we pass the initial levels that God wants us to understand, to learn from, and to grow.  Make sure you understand the assignment.
